Ennis State Bank will host a Carter Bloodcare blood drive in an effort to restock local emergency supplies that are running precariously low.
Set for noon to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Ennis State Bank [listing], the whole blood donation event will be conducted in the Carter Bloodcare mobile donation facility set up in the parking lot.
Organizers for the event say that the community blood supply is at an all-time low – the worst seen in 30 years — and that there is a severely limited reserve at the end of each day; a situation that could persist for many more months.
Each blood donation can save up to three lives as local patients suffer emergencies or illnesses that require blood transfusions.
Local residents who are 16 years old or older are eligible to donate blood. Anyone 17 years old or older may donate without parental consent. There is no maximum age.
All donors at Carter BloodCare must bring a valid photo I.D. and must weigh at least 110 pounds. Potential donors must be feeling well and healthy on the day of donating and not taking any of the medications listed as prohibited on the Carter Bloodcare eligibility page.
To streamline the donation process, Carter Bloodcare asks donors to register for the event and schedule a time slot on the organization’s mobile drive schedule web page. Openings are limited.
